Hudson Valley Seed Library is a great resource for heirloom and open-pollinated seeds (open pollinated seeds are the ones that require insect or other outside pollinators, as opposed to self-pollinating) that are 100% organic and mostly picked at the Seed Library’s own farm. And every year, they donate thousands of packs of seeds to deserving gardeners at schools, community gardens and seed-sharing organizations, and yours could be one of them!
But you’ll need to act fast.
Nominations are being accepted only until January 31, 2015- that’s this Saturday!
Luckily the nomination process is pretty simple: Just fill out this short form with all the necessary information and you’ll be on your way. And while you’re there, please consider buying some seeds for yourself; it’s the best way to keep this program available to those who need it. Heirloom and non-GMO seeds are becoming harder to find, so it’s a great thing to support the Seed Library’s work. Plus the packets have beautiful hand drawn designs on them that are sure to help get kids excited about growing their own food. Good luck, and happy gardening!
