For the first time ever, Solar One is pleased to invite the public to our workforce training lab in Long Island City on Saturday July 25 at 1pm for a very special art exhibition.
Fresh off the heels of his latest solo show, New York artist Jenri Gonzalez breaks into once again brightens the Long Island City art scene with 40 of his latest paintings in a spirited show called “Committed to the dream….” Continuing with the themes of astral projection, flight, love, acceptance, dreams, disappointments, pain and change , Jenri shows us his soul effortlessly with each canvas in the show.
A long time advocate for animals and the arts, in the past Jenri has worked with the Long Island Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and other local organizations.
Currently, Mr. Gonzalez volunteers with MPowerment, an organization dedicated to bettering the lives of GBTQ youth. Under his tutelage, the local group has grown twentyfold, and has expanded to offer free STD testing and counseling. Not content to sit back with this success , Jenri now also works with the first group for HIV positive youth on Long Island. Though not positive himself, Mr. Gonzalez recognizes the need for a support haven for the youth, aged 17-30, and expects to bring to it the affirmative message he brings to any of his endeavors.
With this show, Mr. Gonzalez affirms his resolution to promote change and independence, themes he shares with the sponsor of the show , Solar One. From “The Classics”, to a tribute to his pal and often companion, his Chihuahua Zuko, each canvas resonates with the blood, sweat, tears and memories of this amazing artist.
