If you’re not already a fan of West African dance, you will be after this exciting event! Local dance company VashtiDance Theater will be bringing their moves to Solar One next Friday, performing two dance works, giving a short family-friendly workshop, and then letting loose during an open dance party. If you’ve been to a dance party at Solar One before, you know just how much fun they can be. This one may very well be the best one yet! Admission is $10 for adults, $15 including 1 free drink, kids free. And this event is rain or shine, because it will be happening under a big, big tent- not to be missed!

VashtiDance Theater creates original music and dance that combines the line, form, and composition of Contemporary Dance and fuses it with the rhythm, nuance, range of African movement to perform unique and exceptional music and dance performances that examine the fundamental essence of the human struggle including self-realization, cultural and historical awareness, and a vision for a positive society.
VashtiDance Theater was founded by the Artistic Director, Fatima Logan, in Richmond, Virginia in 2006. VashtiDance performs quality dance theater performances featuring original, live music, graceful and powerful dance, as well as thematic material that examine the fundamental essence of the human struggle including self-realization, cultural and historical awareness, and a vision for a positive society. VashtiDance Theater has performed for colleges and performance venues throughout the country including venues such as the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, Nicus Spoon Theater, the Glenn Allen Cultural Arts Center and for events sponsored by the Powhatan Chapter of the NAACP, Borough of Manhattan Community College, and Virginia Commonwealth University. VashtiDance Theater is a member of the roster of performing ensembles with Young Audiences New York and performs educational lecture demonstration performances for audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
VashtiDance Theater offers dance and music workshops as well as residencies in artistic disciplines ranging from African, Contemporary and African-Caribbean music and dance.
