On Tuesday, July 23rd, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, the Grammy award-winning folk-pop band from California, released their third, eponymous album before embarking on a US tour on July 26th. Adrian Grenier, Jason Sudeikis and Jake Gyllenhaal were among the many friends and fans who attended a top secret record release show on Solar One’s stage along the East River in Stuyvesant Cove Park.

The show was presented along with Rooftop FilmsBowery Presents and Vagrant Records. The production team pulled out all stops, including in a full light show,  and all12 musicians played dozens of instruments, including congas, bells, mandolin, violin, cello and both stand up and electric bass, horns and even an accordion.  The band played for about an hour and a half, performing songs from all three of their releases including their hit, ‘Home’.  Many of the fans, who managed to snag one or two of the 300 tickets made available to the public, waited outside the barricades for hours in order to guarantee a spot in the front row at the lip of the Solar One stage.

We hope everyone will come back often, especially for the opening of Solar 2, the first fully resilient, energy positive building in Manhattan and a global arts and educational destination, to be constructed on the grounds of Solar One.  We hope it will become a place all of you will call ‘Home.’
