What is TruLight™?

Energy conservation is of critical importance to our City’s environment, economy and overall quality of life, and the responsibility to save lies with each one of us. At the same time, 2 billion people on Earth live without any access to electricity. Now you can help slim down your own energy consumption with no sacrifice to quality and comfort, while helping to support solar energy projects in rural areas of the developing world. How? By buying Energy Star™ CFLs from TruLight™!

TruLight™ is a student run venture that promotes energy conservation in a unique way. We provide New Yorkers with a means to reduce their individual impact on the environment, save energy, save money, and help others by switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs). CFLs use only 25% of the electricity of conventional bulbs, and last up to 10 times as long.

TruLight™ team members, while participating in ongoing skill-building training at Manhattan Comprehensive High School, educate New Yorkers about the critical importance of energy conservation for our city, and provide an immediate resource for taking action. In addition to distributing literature and providing demonstrations, TruLight team members offer high quality Energy Star™ CFLs at below average retail costs.

Proceeds are donated in part to the Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF), an international non-profit organization that manages and finances renewable energy projects in the developing world.
