Solar One Seeks Part Time Educator
The PT Educator will be responsible for delivering Solar One’s short-term enrichment programs to K-12 schools throughout New York City. Our programs explore relationships between the natural and built environment using the urban ecology of New York City as a focal point to investigate renewable energy, sustainable design, estuary ecology, and environmental art. The PT Educator will prep materials, assist in developing and updating curriculum, delivering in-school and on-site programs and the possibility to help
facilitate special projects and sustainability initiatives with communities and schools. The focal areas that the PT Educator will concentrate on concern three major areas: Renewable Energy, Sustainable Design and
Urban/Estuary Ecology. The Educator will be expected to have in-classroom experience with a diverse range of students of all age ranges and willingness to travel around NYC. Previous knowledge of these issues is
preferred, but not required. Candidates who excel in Spanish are preferred. Candidates must be willing to commit a minimum of 25 hours each week.
Start Date: August 18
Job Requirements:
· B.A. or B.S. from an accredited University/College, Masters Preferred
· Past Experience with youth or students in a formal or non-formal setting
· Flexibility in travel, to NYC schools
· Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Suite, etc.)
· Enthusiasm for issues of sustainability
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to diverse audiences
· Ability to work in a fast-paced ever-evolving work environment

Salary Compensation
Commensurate with experience.
